Pictures of group B Audi rally cars without front fenders

    Hello,

I have been searching for several days for some specific Audi pictures with no results so far

Now it's time to ask some help from s2forum I'm trying to find pictures of Audi rally cars with front fenders taken off. The interesting part is marked with the red circle:

I would like to find out how this part looked on the factory cars which were used in the group b rally scene. I suspect that this piece was taken off and a custom box was made to reinforce the front of the car.

    Many thanks for any information!

If you were putting a big roll cage in then I wouldn't see a problem with removing that piece to loose some more weight.

Roll cage is already built and that piece is removed to make a much stronger one in place. Strange that the Audi rally cars had nothing there because it is a typical problem area when the car is heavily abused. Cracks, dents and deformations start to show up around the strut towers.

speeding-g60, thank you for the pictures

Indeed, that is a major piece of structural integrity of the entire body, i would not recommend removing it.
AFAIK there is only tubing in longitudinal direction in the engine bay in the Works cars.
Looks like the Group 4 / A1 chassis still has the piece mounted, hard to tell from the first pic.
