as above really.. after having a battle removing a b3 90q rear screen to replace the non quattro scripted replacement my b4 80q is currently wearing i realised that the glass on the 90 is roughly 25mm taller is the opening the same size? will the b3 screen fit and just overhang a bit more at the bottom ??

Remember that one of the differences between a B3 and a B4 was the revised boot/trunk. This probably changed the rear glass.
I can tell you that a tinted rear window heated glass with an antenna for a B3 ("8A") is a 893845501AE and that this part does not cross into B4 ("8C") territory.
Similarly, the equivalent rear glass (tinted rear window heated glass with an antenna) for a B4 is a 8A5845501S and it does not cross back in to B3 territory.
There could be other reasons why the parts don't cross but size could be the main one.
