    removing a bumper

Any tips on removing the front bumper on my 94 Avant. I haven't had a look at it yet but I'm going to tackle it today. Cheers.

Dead easy. Indi's out, fog lights out. See 2 bolts behind the fogs (or where they were) remove these, undo clips/screws at either wheel arch (be careful not to snap) then unclip the undertray from the bottom of the bumper then she will just pull off. You will then have to disconnect the washer pipe, then she's off. Good luck

First it is easiest if you remove the plastic under tray. Then in each front wheel arch there is 2 bolts which are torx bolts, undo them and remove them. Remove the indicator which is a single screw on the outside corner will also give you access to the fog light retainers. Now undo the Foglight bolts and carefully remove the fogs. Behind the indicator and fog lights there are four bolts. Sit on the floor with your legs under the car to prevent the bumper dropping and being damaged. Remove the four bolts and the bumper should then just about fall off, but dont pull it away as the headlight washer pipe then needs disconecting- I did mine at the Tee Piece behind the middle of the bumper. Carefully release the sides by gentle pulling, and lower the bumper till its on your legs. Then pull it forward and away.

Yeh, I'm sure I'm going to get quite a bit of practice at it soon too. I'm Looking for a boost leak you see and I wanted to take the bumper off to check the intercooler pipes. I've made a pressure tester so hopefully that should show up any problems if there is a leak. It's really anoying me now

Anyway, cheers for your help. I don't live that far from you guys actually, is there many north east meets?

We'll Have to got together for a winter photo shoot in a few weeks, we have a few pressure testers in our group what i made and they make most leak finding easy on the main system (all the major pipes, Intercooler, Turbo and Bypass valve) The small bore tubing is also one to look out for, most of the original fabric coated stuff decays and leaks like billyo, but it is easy to replace all of this with new.

Sounds good to me Graham. I got my car about 3 months ago from a forum regular which was good coz I could see it's history. The only thing is, is that the rear windows have been quite heavily tinted. Have you heard of any ways of removing the tinting film? It seems like quite a good job. Any way, heres some pics. How far north and east do you have to be to join the north east gang?

I am from Eston, and there is no rules to be in the gang, well to be truthfull its not a gang as such, more a convenient meeting area as traveling south to meet all the rest of the folks on here is inconvenient for us Up Up Northerners. So it is convenient if we all make use of one anothers knowledge, and we do alright. When we meet it was last time at Scotch corner on the A1M, which is only 30 minutes away for most of us, and its easy to find.

BTW the last meet involved flying from Penrith to Scotch Corner in about 20 mins, (all private roads etc)we slowed once for Johnny Law to sub warp speeds, and also got some good pics of the cars.
