I had mine done by national windscreen in worcester. But i did as Alex has suggested. He literally turned up cut out the old put on the primer and sealed the new screen in place with a new trim piece along the top. Mine is leak and wind noise free. I took my time and applied the trims with correct rivets and tape etc..Comment

I had a look at the pillar trims as thought a temporary fix was some silicone in there, just to stop water from getting in. How do the trims actually come off & go back on. I pulled gently but didn't dare pull too hard.Coupe screen is a real PITA. Here's what I would do:
Smash it with a rock and get it replaced through your insurance at home. Remove the A-pillar trims etc yourself so they don't **** that up, that's the time consuming bit. Then when they come round all they have to do is cut out the old screen and bond in the new one - as they won't be against the clock they can take their time to do it correctly. Make sure they put 3 coats of the etch primer on the screen edge to stop it delaminating and going cloudy.
Then you can refit all the trims with the correct mastic not adhesive as the "professionals"
often do.

The exterior A-post trims are riveted on behind the door seal, once the rivets are drilled out they slide down towards the bonnets to release. Temporary fixes don't work, BTDT with a couple of cars, I've spent days trying to sort my S2 and had to crack both top corners of the screen before I could get the trims to fit anywhere near properly. It still leaks and the only way I'm going to stop it is renew the screen properly.
Alex's suggestion of doing most their job yourself is probably the best bet if you have a little practical skill, I'm planning on doing the whole job myself when my mate finally finishes his spray booth, could be some time but I ain't paying for someone else to **** it up. Hope Chef does another heated screen group buy this year as I may as well fit one of them whilst I'm at it.1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

Heated screen sounds nice. I'm good with drilling out the rivets and removing/refitting the trims. I had the screen done by Auto Windscreens on my A6 and have to say that I had no problems with the way the guy did it and no leaks so no complaints. The exterior A-post trims are riveted on behind the door seal, once the rivets are drilled out they slide down towards the bonnets to release. Although there is a leak from somewhere else that dampens my carpets.Comment
