  • Relocating washer bottle to boot

Anyone done this? Thinking of using the rear reservoir but trying to decide how best to hook it up so it doesn't wee all over the bonnet when you brake

Should be straight forward, extend the wiring from the engine bay to the new location in the boot, run the hose back to the front of the car.

Some cars has this in opposite - one bottle with two pumps on the front for both, front and rear windows with hose routed along wiring loom. But I'd first check if rear pump is powerful enough to feed both front jets. Non return valve from C4 would be good too.

Why would it wee on the bonnet when you brake?

Just get a small 'bag' tank type reservoir for a kit car etc.
Keeps it up front but only about a litre. Or get another rear bottle for opposite side of car

Or just run a minimum amount of washer fluid. The reservoir itself is lightweight. No reason to fill it to the brim.

I am with espen on this. You wont be saving a huge amount of weight by moving the washer bottle. Not enough for it to be worth the hassle anyway.

That was where my head was at with the original question...

I know it's not the original question, but i have recently had a tank installed into the boot for water-meth which runs to the engine-bay and which im sure would have involved several of the same challenges.

The tank has its own pump and a single run of pipe that runs underneath the car parallel to the fuel lines.

I'm thinking of going down the water injection route but using the front screen wash as the reservoir. Whats the advantage of the rear tank?

I use the original rear washer bottle for the front wipers, doesn't pee on the bonnet when braking, the only down side is it takes a second for the water to get from the back of the car to the washer jets.

                            1) Not having a tank of flammable liquid stored in the engine bay
                            2) A larger tank with more capacity.
