    Coupe window replacement / adjustment

My window was dropping 1" or so at the front, so I decided to see what was up. Unfortunately, the cable had frayed and was down to 50% of the wires

Anyway, I've replaced the regulator from a Cabrio, which appears to be identical and adjusted it all, so it's fitting the 'frame' nicely.

Wierdly though, there is a 5mm gap between the window and the flocked trim, which attatches to the car, which gets wider from front to back.

Could be a few things but wondered in anyone had any ideas? I can't see any adjustment other than to shim the window out.

Packing pieces or shims of varying thickness are used at the bottom of the regulator frame to adjust the angle of the glass in or out. Do you have these fitted?

Good luck with that - I did similar a while ago... Both sides

For me, trial and error - lots of swearing and shimming.

Mine was shimmed at the glass fixings and at the reg to door fixings. Lots of variables...

I thought someone (Error404 maybe?) had located a proper Audi manual and could check on the "correct" alignment procedure ...

Lower shims are all there. The gap is fairly large compared to any adjustment. It's not the end of the world, just not neat.

Here's a pic of the gap. It's about 5 mm!

so youve still got the gap when opening the door? mine closes up fairly well when its shut

might get some more shims for the window
