  • audi CQ and S2 galvanised body

    hi !
    I can't find the answer for my question...

    are audi coupe , audi coupe quattro and S2 ( B3 -B4 ) galvanised ?
    I know that audi 100 c3 are galvanised from 1985 , some of them are galvanised before .. but what is with Coupe chasy ???

    can somebody answer ?

    Yes, they are. My car has a small patch of bare metal on it that's been there since I bought it 12 year ago!

      mine, (USA CQ 1990) is. and it sucks to weld to if not totally removed.

      but yes it is galvanized and has this crazy wax crap inside the rockers and all over it as well. it really leaks out when heated up.

        All audi's were galvanised i believe from 1986 onwards.

            tnx for answers .. because somebody said that audi coupe B3 are not galvanized sine 1991... wtf?? I know where to find the answer !!
            are than audi coupe quattro B2 galvanizes since 1986 ? are you sure?

              Despite the rumours the type 85 cars were not galvanised AFAIK.

                I was always under the impression as per some early press releases that Audi used galvanized stock and their key technical prowess was the ability to press galvanized stock. Hence there was always confusing answers regarding the cars being galvanized? They only started dip galvanizing late 80's
