s2 headlights green mould inside, options?

I bought an s2 a couple of years ago but due to having to buy a house at shprt notice i had to take the car off the road.
Im at the begining of starting to restore her and noticed the headlights are mouldy around the edges. Ive seen some for sale on ebay for just under 400 but thought id see what other options there are?

    Buy new gaskets.

Remove the headlight, pop off the metal clips, clean the glass/headlight, new gasket and rebuild, be very careful if touching the chrome.

If you're 'stuck' re the gaskets, you can always try to clean the original gaskets as a first step, can't end up any worse.

Well worth the effort, lights look much better afterwards. As mentioned do not physically touch the 'chrome' no matter what you think, mega delicate. Only blow on it at the most.

Before you open up the headlights, treat them with Dettol mould remover spray.

You may have mould inside but with the rolled edge of the glass it can look as though it's inside when in fact it isn't.

            Just worth a try first.

Be careful on then silver clips too as they can chip the glass, I found it can help to slightly compress the seal to help them off. Then once open clean the original seal and it should bre very reusable to be honest.

The glass can be stuck to the seal and the seal to the platic body of the headlamp making it hard to take the glass off. BTDT and broke a glass because of it. Might help to leave in warm water for a short while.
