Coupe door locks question

So if I want to have both doors locked while driving I push the door lock button down and the central locking mechanism locks both doors. But how am I supposed to unlock them while still being inside? Just curious how it works on other cars. The door lock button goes all the way in and there is no way to pull it back up. On mine I can open the doors by pulling the inside handle, but it requires quite a lot of force and feels like it is going to break something inside. Is this the way it is supposed to be?

Or maybe I need to open it up and take a look and maybe put some grease on the links and mechanism...

Ah, thanks how it is supposed to work! Thank you! I don't think I can do it this way as it is, still think I need to take it apart and see maybe some of the linkage is worn or something like that. Right now what I can do is to pull quite hard and then it unlocks and opens, can't do just unlock on the first pull.
