    Pollen filter housing

So, the pollen filter housing in a s2 3b doesn't have any cover?? Is it just the filter in there?

No cover as far as I know but good luck finding the filter anywhere in Greece. At least I wasn't able to so I had to source mine from this site (see bottom of post). The paper filter is contained within a plastic frame where all the clips from the housing attach. I don't know how you're supposed to fit the paper filters without plastic frames that are supposedly recommended for use on this car and are the only ones I could find over in Greece. I had to wedge mine under the windscreen with bits of polystyrene foam http://www.antallaktikaonline.gr/filtron/2555603

Already ordered one from there, just hope it fits. ;-) Anyway, it will be somehow customized as water leaks through there. :-( But i think i ll get the one from ebay as well, for backup..

If there's water ingress through the air filter then no matter what filter you fit it won't stop the water coming in as there's no lid on the housing. The problem lies either on the plastic trim that lives at the base of the windscreen (just above the air filter) or the windscreen moldings. One of these 2 allows water to drain through it and straight into the cabin air filter housing.

As I recently replaced the heater core in my car I seem to recall a low "water catchment" like shape inside the air ducts with its own drain hose that leads water out through the firewall. So IMHO I don't think water can get in the cabin through the cabin filter housing. If you found water in the cabin it may come from the main fuse box on the driver's side, as I discovered on mine (quite an unnerving discovery I must say)...

There is a strip of black sticky string stuff that seals the plastic scuttle panel around the base of the windscreen, its purpose is to prevent water from leaking down into the heater air intake, or onto the pollen filter if your car has one.

Whilst your in there clean out any leaves and dirt you find in the scuttle area as there are two small water drains on each side of the car that plug up. Also note where the bonnet release cable pokes through the body beside the fuse box, that seal can leak water down into the drivers footwell.
