    Rusty stone chip reapirs

    Hi

Got a couple of bonnet stone chips which have RUST...

I was about to buy some Chippex repair paint... and wondered about the rust. I emailed them and they said :

"...you can apply the Chipex paint directly over the rust..."

That does not sound clever to me... shouldn't I try to grind our the rust with a clay bar or similar first??

    Any thoughts?

Doesn't sound right to me either, drop of this, then a bit of primer, then build up layers of paint with touch up paint until level of paint matches surrounding area. Don't try to do it in one go, won't look right. Probably need at least 10 layers.

      yeah.
leaving rust untreated is like leaving a decaying tooth and slapping a filling on top. At some point it's just going to be 10 times worse.

Does anyone happen to know what the "blending solution" liquid in a chipex kit actually is? I ordered one off ebay aaaaaaaaaages ago and when it arrived the liquid had leaked but dried. So I have a kit with no liquid.
