Not exciting but...Rubber trim on drivers door

Sorry if this is a bit of a boring topic but it's really pssng me off and spoiling the car.

The rubber trim at the bottom of my drivers door is peeling back at one end - ****** to fix and have tried a number of 'improvisations' - no luck.

Was wondering......the 'clips' on the door seem to be sound enough so can this old trim be replaced with a 'new' one? It looks like some form of slide on/off or clip on/off (no jokes about strap on/off please) Is there a source for these and how easy to remove old and fit new?

    Ta.

yep these are quite easy to change, you can source a new set from vag parts not sure exactly what they cost but i know they are pretty cheap, can also buy the clips if need be.

and yes they do slide off.

I don't know if anyone on here either works at VAGparts or is close friends with someone there and apologies if you do, but......, their website REALLY ****** me off

I too need some of those trims, so after reading the above posts, off I pootled to their website...but alas, no mention of said parts

I have had to call up for a couple of things that were not listed and have seen other comments about parts being available there, but cannot find them either, so what is the point of their website and online ordering system?

It's a pain for me as I travel an awful lot, so anything I can buy online saves me ALOT of hassle, and is waiting on my doorstep when I return to Blighty

i guess the thing is if they put every part they could get hold of on the site it would be too much to list. if you email them they will load an order onto the website and you can thren order it online from their site. i do this all the time, and you will get s2forum discount if you do it this way.

The website is not up to date. The S2 parts list has been POA for months.

The on-line ordering is for common and service parts only.

For rare or unusual parts the best way is to phone them. e-mail is not recommended unless you are prepared to wait.

I fitted some new strips, got them from Audi £35, supplied me with the clips , but I did not need them, if you want them, I will try and dig out.

              Hey Fibreguy,

Was the £35 for both. Seems very reasonable actually, especially from Audi - I wonder if they do group buys, as I have heard others moaning about these?

Strange how on my '93 2.8 there are fine, yet on my '95 S2 they are awful

I might well take you up on the clips offer, as I may have found a set for less, but without the clips...Thanks very mucho

              Cheers n

I think the state of these trims is very much dependent on how the car was treated up to the day you aquired it. If it was washed and waxed and the rubber trims were lubricated then they will last. If they were left to go dry they will crack and break and look bad.....

My new ones are lubricated every week...

                  Cheers,

So.........thanx 4 all the sound advice. Seems I should be able to source these from VAG parts and then it would appear that regular lubrication is required I will see what I can do
