    TIG Welders and welding.

Dont know if this thread is suitable for the new catagory?

ive been looking into TIG welders and welding, nowdays you can buy cheap TIGs and i know it takes time to learn to pool aluminium (aluminum for the US posters lol) but with practice its amazing to TIG, and most TIGs also switch to plasma cutters, what more can you want?

if TIGS did handjobs we would never need to leave the garage LOL!

i need to buy a TIG in the next few months so Please advise, profesionals and home dabblers alike

sorry if the thread isnt suitable then just delete it mods

I'll be keeping an eye on this as well. I'm pretty happy with my MIG efforts at last but want to move on to more skilled alloy and stainless steel welding.

I have got an R-tech201 ac/dc, it has served me well, very well in fact even thought its Chinese made, its been brilliant for me for the past 2 years, you get uk warranty too (which I have never needed to use).

Every esab, murex, miller etc etc user will tell you that spending £2000+ is the only way, only buy British, EU or USA welders. I would agree with them if you are a professional welder welding flat out for +8rhs a day 5 or 6 days a week, but for irregular (2 to 3 times a week) use I would not recommend shelling more out as it has done the job for me.
Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!
