Engine crane - mini size diy

Just got my diy engine crane welded together. Need to lift out the engine from my UrS4 and can't fasten any winch or chain from the roof in the new garage, so I had to provide a engine crane. Well, the factory cranes is quite big and clumsy and they cost some money too. I decide to make my own crane in mini size and with a very small budget. Bought a 5T hydraulic car jack and some 100mm wheels. Still have to sacrifice few bucks on some paint. It's also possible to take it in pieces so you can lift it on the wall and save some space.

Soon we see if it holds the weight of an 5cyl AAN engine..?

    Few pics...

        Nice work but,

I predict the area of trouble might be where the two pieces of metal meet.

What kind of trouble do you expect?

Nice but it looks a bit short!

Now go on and make a drawing with dimensions.

Yeah, it's a mini crane for engine lift only, not the transsmission in the same package. We havn't too much depht in the carage so thats why it's so short. I give some measures later... have to test it first.

Our local shops are stuffed with Chinese clones for around €50. Eventually you need to redo every weld and change the hydraulic units after all...
My friend bought a transmission support/jack thingy and when we were jacking it we didn't see it lifting the gearbox, but bending it's wheels...

Nice work. The only things needed are 2 lateral reinforcements and lenght adjustable main arm.Good skils. How much did materials cost?
I thought making one,but around 200 eur can buy one.

I was looking for a china made from a local shop for 169 euros. Not very expencive, but it was huge. The overall costs for this one is about 55 euros and I got a more compact custom sized one. Just got the first layer painted...
