    NPT Tapping and fittings

Right, I have a load of sensors from 14point7 to stick on the motor. All the fittings are NPT threads which I have nothing like in the garage. Some have a description of the thread size on the sender and some don't

Does anyone have any suggestions who stocks NPT taper taps or is able to supply one on loan? If not, NPT weld-on bungs for ally and stainless will be required. eBay doesn't list much and the stuff in the US is silly postage and will take ages to get to the UK.

    I have:

EGT sensor (nothing stamped onto it)
    Water temp sensor (9718 NPT)
    Fuel pressure/Oil pressure (1/8 27-NPT)

I may have to try a local engineering firm if I can't sort it myself...last resort!

    Cheers,
    Steve

Best off buying an NPT tap and die set for a few £ and then you'll have everything and can check the sizes.

Search the bay, you're looking at £30 for a basic set.

Cheers Andy. Searched eBay this morning and found very little UK stock. Must have been me typing in "NTP"

Not enough coffee yet! Looks like Clark do them, so I'll pop down to Machine Mart.

Just had a look and not sure that they do a specific NPT set, so make sure that there are the ones you need in the kit you get. I think I have a set with a 1/8 NPT tap in it but that's it.

Yup the Clarke set only has a single 1/8th NPT tap. Not much use

I recon a local engineering place will be best. They'll have everything but will want to take bucks off me to do the job!

I used to borrow stuff like this from the machine shop old boys who had everything. Might be worth asking?

Cheers James. Merlin Motorsport are just down the road and I think they stock Speedflow stuff.

I would ask if I knew any local, friendly machine shops. I try where possible to do stuff myself so I don't have any established relationships with local shops. Unless its use of a ramp or spray booth
