What's this & where should it go?

Just tidying some wiring in the passenger footwell this evening and came across the following - loose pipe coming off a valve/solenoid unit which itself has an unused port.

I'm assuming this is an a/c part due to it's location and the fact my ABY didn't have one.

Can anyone tell me what it is & whether the loose pipe has just come discommected from the connector. Any consequences?

    Thanks!

        Hi Alistair,
Part description (vague) is a "two way valve". I still need to find the page
its listed on to learn were its used.

That's a control solenoid for the recirculation flap.

aah - good work guys....... thanks!

so should the loose hose from one side of the solenoid be connected up to the nozzle on the other side?

You can try trial and error

If you have 1 loose hose and 1 connection without a hose.. Usually 1+1 = 2

If it's any help Alistair, I have aircon and have had my head under the glove box to have a look if I had one. I have and it's screwed to the underside of the box behind the glove box.
It is exactly the same as yours, in that it has three hose connections, one of which has nothing attached to it, one has a hose that goes to a black round "bomb" looking gadget and the other has a short length of hose that isn't connected to anything and an electrical connector attached.

I'm thinking that maybe this is a reduntant part of a system that was meant for climate control (seeing as we didn't get it).

                Just a thought

nice one - cheers for the investigative work - though now my a/c clutch appears to have gone teets up, this little problem might have to wait a while for a solid resolution!

If in doubt plug any hose ends or try running the engine and checking them for vacuum. I had a poor idle problem partly cured by refitting the very hose you have pictured.
