Air Con advice

My air con died last summer and i would like to try and fix it before the summer kicks in. I did take it to a so called specialist who said there was no gas left in the system.

My air con pump is also making a squeely squeeky sound, do you think this is the problem or is there other possible failure points? Or has the gas just discharged over the years and just needs a regas? If the pump is making a noise i guess that could be the most likely cause ...

I'm no expert, but I work for honda , and if all gas gets lost from the AC system due to a fairly sizeable leak, in most cases the compressor oil tends to go with it. some of these particular cars have been refilled with gas and everything has appeared to work well, only to come back 10-20k later under warranty for noisy/seized compressors. My 3b lost it's gas last summer (over a fair length of time - small leak) and that to rattled/squeaked occasionally. After a quick repair and a re-gas it works fine, but still does rattle occasionally. It may just be a case of suck it and see, get it re-gassed and see what happens.

Thanks for that. I will try and source an air con pump, does anyone know if the the ones from a LHD RS2 with clima will be ok to use?

We took our's to a main dealer and asked for an air-con re-gas with the service.... They couldn't do it as they can only re-gas modern systems and don't have the equipment to cope.!
