Any dis-advantages of getting a radiator re-cored ?, getting the secondary radiator re-cored for £64 + VAT, as opposed to new rad for £189.

Just wondering if I'm letting myself in for a bunch of problems ?

Nope, should be fine. Quite a few of the lads have done this on their secondary rad and everything is still fine

There is a place in Manchester that will recore the main radiator from 2 core to 4 core then you dont need the secondary radiator. He builds a lot of high performance and race radiators and intercoolers so knows what he's doing.
