    squeeling aircon pump

seems to do it when just engaging - original compressor which was fine until about 3 days ago, still chills are fine but just soooooo noisy

Any ideas? I guess bearings but I am worried it could sieze - should I?

Also any ideas recommendations on where to source a used one or get it rebuilt and what kind of money am I looking at....

    Cheers

Could be the clutch mechanism on it is on the blink, or have you checked the tension on the drive belt?

New compressors are not cheap, source the original Denso model not the VAG-re-branded ones, significantly cheaper.

Mine was squealing when engaging the aircon, turned out to be a worn belt and the extra load of the aircon compressor. The belt snapped the day before it was booked in the garage for replacement but it's been fine since the new belt's been on!!

one thing I found with mine was that if the engine mounts are worn and the engine moves around a bit under breaking the AC pump was coming to contact with a bulk head/ cross member of some sort, which was ok'ish when AC not running, but when running made a h*** of racket
