    After-run fan relay?

Does anyone know which relay this is, is it top left 214 of fuse box, or 214 right hand side, or none of these?. I beleive this is coming on when car is off and draining battery so i would like to take it out.

I had a problem with the fan running all the time and draining the battery. In the end I had to remove the rad fan delay relay to stop it (It's clearly marked in the main fuse box). I've never managed to trace what the problem is so I've just left it out and haven't had any problems.

Let me know how you get on. I might find out how to sort mine out.

          Cheers

check out the sensor of the bottom of the main rad....it might be gone bad...it feels the temp on the rad, beside the rad hose in the bottom.

It's usually the relay that goes bad causing the fan to come on and saty on, had this on my old s4, the fan runs pretty quiet and i couldn't work out why the battery kept on going flat until, until someone told me about the realy, i had changed the switch in the rad first plus a couple of other fan related relays and finally the after run one, which has some kind of timer in it i think.

I have also had a bad sensor under the inlet manifold on the water pipe too, but then that was caused by me shorting the thing out whilst trying to touch the 2 wires together to check that the circuit does actually work, doh.

I've got the same problem. I tried changing the temp. sensor by the manifold butthat didn't work, or so I found out when the battery was flat one morning. I'm going to try changing the after run relay which I think has the timer inside (Part no. 447 965 571 A).

I just phoned Audi who want £50 + Vat for it! Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative.

I think it's audi only or vag parts maybe

rad fan running all the time is more likely to be the resistor pack or connections on the wiring at the resistor pack.

                        Work-around!!!

I took the rad fan relay out and all seems to be well. So far so good!!!

I managed to fix this problem at the weekend after changing out the after run relay. VAG supplied it at a much better price. Happy days.
