    Urgent pipe needed

Hi i need the metal pipe which runs behind the head from the thermostat housing number 034 121 071 T, mine has rusted and popped on the elbow where it goes round the head just after the Tee junction. I will contact Martyn for a price and availability.
The cause is my own fault, i have had plain water in her for a few months as i will be fitting a new Aux rad when it arrives, so the system is full of crap which is pi$$in me off something chronic. What is the best way of flushing all the rust out of the system, is there an Acid i can buy to flush it away leaving it bling for the new coolant, what do people recomend for the system. The cooling system has give me the sh1ts lately, as it has been one leak after the next.
    Cheers

You should never run with just plain water, the anti freeze is also a corrosion inhibitor too, personally i would not try flushing with anything you might do more harm than good, just my 2ps worth. it would be worth once the leaks are fixed to run it for a week or 2 then drain and refill

I dont have the pipe Im afraid mate...
But Ive used Holts radflush before and it seemed to do the job nicely after running it in the system for a few days...then bottom coolant hose off...drain her....and put a hosepipe in the system (top hose on S2)...turn it on...bingo. Nice clean system after 5 minutes flushing it through with pressured water

I was concerned initially that a coolant passage may get blocked but the water will go clear when clean...and my car ran noticeably cooler after that (an old Cavalier! but flushed the S2 also with water only)

I don't have that pipe either, sorry.

        Regarding flushing though:

Is that the tried and tested method to drain the cooling system?
I did it a few months back but I'm assuming a lot of water remained in the block and radiators because not a whole lot came out.
I tried flushing through with a hosepipe but I think it was by-passing most of the system.
Do you use de-ionised water to refil? Tesco sell it really cheap I found.

Hope you can get the pipe.

its tried and tested in that Ive done it on a lot of my past cars with no problems at all Not saying its the "right" way though.

If you flush by shoving a hosepipe say half a foot into the top hose iirc (with bottom hose disconnected at the back and a bucket underneath) if you apply pressurised water through the hose it will push all the gunky water out and then after a few minutes the water will start running cleaner...and cleaner. Till it stays a constant clear ish colour.
Due to the thermostat being closed it wont flush everything but will still clear the system a lot
I used only normal tap water with Audi Spec anti freeze (purpler iirc)
