    RS2 Air Con Compressor

My car is making this almighty grinding noise. I cannot drive the car due to the noise so it is stuck outside my work.

On inspection it seems like the air con compressor has seized as there is a lot of rust on the wheel. The belt is not turning when the engine is started and there is a weird smell and also slight smoke coming from this.

I was wondering if I could just snap the belt to the unit that way I could get the car home.

Is there another way of doing it?

Any help would be most appreciated.

I assume it is making this noise with the aircon off. You can try unplugging the single wire green plug on the pump, this will disable the A/C clutch. Failing that cut and remove the belt, then get round to fixing it as and when

I cut the belt off and it did the job. Just a bitch to get at.

I am now back on the raod and thankfully have my car back instead of outside work.

      Thanks for the advice.

Good to see it sorted, though not good that it went like that.
