    Heater hose explosion

Haven’t used the s2 for a few weeks due to an eye operation. So I thought I would give her a run .
First thing the windows didn’t work, lot of rain lately , apart that car was running fine.
Then suddenly after several miles a big explosion of steam and my feet were covered in boiling water , couldn’t see anything . Fortunately I was not far from home ,but I have to say if I was doing any speed it would have been a scary thing .
My heater matrix was replaced a couple of years ago so I can only assume is a hose that’s split or come of . `Not sure if this has happened to anyone before but, be-warned these cars are getting old now and , when this happens it’s scary and, dangerous .
I will post my findings when I find out what has failed

Unfortunately it's most likely the matrix, the hoses are in the bay. I'm sorry to hear you keep having issues with the car Lou.

David 1980 . I did replace the matrix a couple of years ago . I am hoping it’s hose as there was an instant flood of hot coolant . Maybe a hose piping of .

Looks like You were right David 1980. . All hoses are ok in the engine bay .
The car has air con which is partly remove wasn’t sure if there where any more und we the dash other than the two through the bulkhead .
the speed and volume of water and steam that came in was so explosive it was like bomb going of and trust me I am not exaggerating . There was no warning , no overheating issues just bang .
i have bypassed the hoses in the bay till I can get someone to replace the matrix yet again

I've heard of matrix's failing after a couple of years. I personally had a rad on my 20v fail and the screen mist over pretty much instantly which could have been worse at speed.
