anyone know where i can get an adaptor for the refill port of the A/C?
I want something that will screw on to the refill port to convert it to the more common type that every other car maker uses!
fed up with no one being able to give me a refill!
i think the converter is to allow the later gas to be used, olf r12 had one port adaptor and the later stuff has a different one. You can always refill your aircon with a drop in gas to replace the r12 old stuff...cost me £65 lst summer and it worked a treat!
No, mine has r134 from new! But the fitting is different from almost all other makes of car!
Ive been told (but not sure) that the main difference is S2 has screw fitting where everyone else uses a "clip on" arrangement
I have just had this problem. How i got round it was to get one off a saab aircon system, they are the same thread but the new, more common style of fitting. I presume you mean the low pressure adaptor on the back of the compressor, as the rail infront of the condenser has a modern adaptor.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.--:Albert Einstein
Ring Autoclimate in Shrewsbury (they make air con kits for the manufactures) and ask them to post to you a R12 to 134a charge port adaptor kit (both ports, low side and high) plus their conversion sticker for a small charge
You should change all the seals, the reciever dryer for one suitable for 134a and drain all the oil (strip the compressor off and drain plus flush the system) but... and I never told you this... swop the ports and take it to be regassed and as long as their kit doesnt do a sniff test (detect R12 and other contaminents) you should be good to go
Also ask Autoclimate how much gas to put back in as this is a different amount to the old R12 amount and not the same as 134a system either (i think its R12 plus 10% from memory??)
Thanx Jay,
however my car has never had R12 in its A/C system, its an '93 ABY & was fitted with R134 from the factory so im not sure its a R12 to R134 adaptor I need!
I understand that Audis in general are fitted with a different from standard valve.
BTW, the High side valve is the same fitting as the low side one!
