    orifice tube info needed

    Just a quick one,
Does anybody know if there is a difference between the orifice tubes used on different models of S2?
I have an air con place near me which can do the gas, but not any car related stuff. so I need to turn up with the new drier and orifice tube which I need.
If anyone can help me out with a part number or 2 I wouls appreciate it..
its a 1991 3B, but a LHD and with the electronic ACC...
    Thanks for any help.

    Right,
I have found out that the orifice tube, or evaporator restrictor, is called the 'choke' n the family album, and has part number 443 271 191 A
I just need to find out which drier I need to get now for R134a, which will fit the bolt configurationas of the 3B. Does anyone know if the fittings are identical? If so, I can just get the later type.
    Cheers

Different fittings, R12 type can be used with R134a gas tho with no problems.

ah, I was wondering.... I know the compressor connections are different sizes, but wasn't sure about drier.... Is it easy to fit the orifice tube? I have looked for any BTDT's but nothing, I am guessing it is in the smaller pipe around the bulkhead by the evaporator inlet / outlet.... presumably you have to remove gas (obviously) and undo the block that is on the bulkhead with the 2 pipes going in it, and then I will see where it fits?

Im not sure where it is exactly, my guess is that it is in the tubes leading up to the evap. near the dash. There are screwed into the pipe i think?? To be honest, all the old R12 components work fine with R134a, no need to change unless you have problems with vent outlet temps?

Yes, this is exactly the problem now, along with a whooshing sound. No gas ost at all for almost 3 weeks, but centre vent colder than side vents, and all cooler than outside air, but not anywhere near as cold as it should be...
I will have a poke around at the weekend, after they have unloaded my gas..!
            Thanks

The restrictor is in the evaporator. In the inlet fitting from the hose that comes from the condensor. You have to remove the hoses to the evaporator, and pull the restrictor out with a pair of long nose pliers.
