It runs with ignition off only iff the coolant temp is rising over 110 degrees Celsius or something like this (dont know the right temp) after shut down!
Iff the after run system is ok offcourse.

yep thats about right......have you heard it running on before (to suggest now that something isnt right i mean..)

The sensor is in the water rail below the inlet manifold, mine was crusted so might be worth checking contacts and giving it a clean initially...check the after-run pump too, you should hear it whirr for about 5 secs when you click the ignition on (before cranking)

        Cheers

No its not run on before, I just assumed it would, not had the car long but I allways drive it slower to cool it down after a thrashing, and there is a lot of heat comes out of that engine.

I've never heard mine do it in 8 years but to be honest i do the same at the end of a run.....

having said that it could be because there is a fault

Ditto what S2Driver just said. I have never heard mine run on either. But then I had never heard speed 2 on the fan until I forgot to replace the relay for speed 1 that I had "borrowed".

I think you need to really thrash it, or have other cooling system problems to trigger the fan run on after turning off....

                Cheers,

Seen this mentioned many times on the forum, think its normal.

Does anybody know which temp sensor it uses?

On the 7A its clipped onto the side of the valve cover, but the fan runs every time without fail if the engine is fully warm. It runs at half normal speed, and can kick in 2 or 3 times if the car is really hot. Might be worth looking into as i would prefer it to run as often with a turbo motor to cool things down.
