    UrS6 Aircon recharge point?

Does anyone know where the valve to recharge the aircon is on the UrS6?

There's a nice easy access one on the condenser but I think that is the high pressure side. THere is also a valve for the sensor but is the wrong type.

    Any ideas?

The one on the compressor is basically impossible to attach anything to while the car is running.

Pretty sure it's on the pump, although it's not a normal size a/c fill plug,

      hello

there is one in the engine "upstairs" and one under on the pump, but you need a special connector for the one "downstairs"

I've found out that it is to be filled from the high pressure side only. The charge valve is on the condenser.

I'm going to fit a new condenser and some new 'O' rings first.

I have read that the system must first be put into a vacuum state and then recharged via the recharge valve on the condenser. This must be done with the engine off otherwise explosions may occur.

I just finished recharging mine through the valve where the low pressure switch is located at the condensor in the plenum area... seems to have done the trick YAY! Did it with the R12 retrofit kit from interdynamic.... makes quite cold... one thing though.. my electric fan doesn't come on....

You can't do it by pressure because it is so temperature dependant, it should be done by weight. Having said that, I know that's easier said than done. You have two choices, either take it somewhere for a recharge where their automated system will empty your A/C system completely and then refill it from scratch with the correct weight of gas or top up your system as I've described in another post according to the symptoms you have.

I'm in middle of writing this all up... coming together... I'll try to dig up some data here, but the amounts of gas and oil called up in manuals are only relevant when filling up from pure vacuum IIRC. If you search the forum on this you will get some numbers - 750g rings true in my brain but CHECK that first please... And yes when AC man is filling up on HIGH side - the compressor needs to be OFF.

i saw etka saying 250ml of oil, but nowhere mentioning the amount of gas.If 750g is roughly a number, then that we can go by

let us know when the AC writeup will be ready

Again the 250ml of oil is only for a completely empty system. Work in progress - I'll have Johne validate my work first though - I'm going to summarise a lot of stuff - and try to simplify lots of language in thie area - so that most people can get value from it, understand the beast better and be able to have deep and meaningful conversations about the properties of refridgerant with your friendly neighbourhood Aircon specialist - and avoid getting bamboozled with 'you need a new hydrophobic capacimitator for your wotsit for £300 plus labour before I can regas your system'

I would expect cars that left the factory fitted with A/C to have a sticker under the bonnet somewhere specifying the type & quantity of gas and oil to charge the system?

That is true actually - have seen it under the bonnet of most aircon cars - but not all...
