    4 Pin Mfts

Can I use a 4pin MFTS if I have the 3pin connector. The 3pin on the car has failed again its cutting the boost,I know this because it runs on full boost if I disconnect it.I have a working spare 4pin but the connector on the car has the new 3pin connector.

    What symptoms were you getting?
Mine is currently not seeing full boost too, I get 15psi (homefried) no matter what gear or revs when I floor it, so something is stopping it getting full boost

From my memory when I tested this little Motronic featurette - when that temp alarm is active on the ABY you fallback to pure mechanical boost (0.4bar / 6psi with factory WG & spring)... So you wouldn't see 15psi in that scenario.

But if the mfts is broken and gives false overheat signal and then you unplug the mfts. After that it can't give the overheat signal to ecu ---> normal pressure.

I don't think that you can use the 4-pin sensor becouse it needs 12v what the missing ping is used for.

                From SMJ page:
You can temporarily run the car with the Multi-Function Temperature Sensor connector unplugged to verify if the sensor has malfunctioned and is causing the low boost problem.
Now quattro less, my urs4 stolen 13.8
