    Sussex Aircon re-gas

Had Klausy pop round today to top the aircon up on the S2, rather handy having a quattro friendly AirCon and windscreen repair specialist (Klausy's putting a 20vt into an 86 Ur quattro). Did a superb job on the S2, it'd been re-gased at a dealers after the Heater Matrix Change and only partially filled, after a full vacuum and complete refill the Aircon is painfully cold now.

    Well worth giving a bell

      Just had my AC fixed.
Pipe replaced, new bearing in the compressor, new condenser, re-gas.
The guy did a fantastic job, and was very reasonable on price!

So if you're in Edinburgh, call David, Stable Air, 07771538360

funny I was looking at Aircon just yesterday, most of the S2 Systems were R12 systems which have to converted over to R134a, depending on who you talk to this can as simple as draining and flushing the system and changing the oil and re-filling with R134a, or you need to strip down the whole system and replace seals and some of the pipes as R134a has smaller molecules and just leaks out.

I did a bit of digging and basically if you can find anyone that uses it, that you can switch from R12 to R49a, and that R49a is a drop in replacement for R12. The drawback is that most AC texts say that you have to go from R12 to R134a.

RS24 gas is also a good drop in R12 replacement - used it in my s2 with good success

I guess I'm quite lucky then, because my 93 ABY estate is 134a

so how do you find somebody that does RS24 as well as or instead of R134a, just found out that my system also needs a new drier and a new bit of pipe

Going to get more grief from the wife about selling it, given the recent breakdowns and issues with the AC

Most aircon companies mention R12 and some drop in solution rather than changing to R134a that i have seen. If nothing is mentioned on the ones you have found give them a call? Mine is going to cost £70 for a full refill etc.

Have a look on www.caraircon.co.uk and should be able to find someone local to you to use?

Hi Lloyd... Sorry for the slow response...

£50.00 - That's the system checked (Pipes/compressor etc) purged (Vacuumed) and 800ml/g of Gas.
