Can you get some pictures of this please just for reference
Pictures as promised. The temperature sensor housing has been turned vertical and is on the far right of the switch bank.

The other photo is up into the driver's footwell showing the mounting of the white fan motor that draws air in from the cabin over the temperature sensor. You do need the fan. Without the fan the temperature sensor doesn't react quickly enough and the system is hopeless - I had the fan go intermittent in another non Audi car and as a result the car's interior temperature was all over the place.

Any idea when doing this yet Pete ?

I need your underfelt and am long overdue a trip to mainland. I'd be happy to help you on this and document it. Send me a PM if you can target any specific weekend.

I realise mounting the interior sensor on the side of this storage tray - taken from the donor A4 - won't suit everybody, especially from the purist angle, but most of us have at least one blank switch panel here which you could modify by drilling a set of holes in and placing the sensor behind.

To cut a long story short, Acidburns AC clima project has now become my project for the Avant.

I'm looking for as much information as possible, Pete really did get "everything" from the donor car
