    Blower fan maintenance

It is possible to remove the fan blades to lubricate the upper bearing via the pollen filter?

The fan on my car has an irritating squeek when turning left!

The fan blade is usually a very tight fit on the motor shaft so you may struggle to get it off. Even if you do, you won't be able to lubricate the lower bearing this way.

If you haven't got aircon it's easy to get the motor out from below. If you do have aircon, I admit it isn't easy to get the motor out but others have managed it & there's posts on here explaining how. The difficulty revolves around getting the upper fixing screw out that is hidden behind a ducting.

      Buy a new one

Failrly tricky job I agree. I removed the fan from mine by removing the glovebox and then loosening the main bolts on the dash (which are accessed from the side of the dash) to give a bit of extra space to remove the screw you referred to. I removed the bird cage from the fan to lubricate the spindle, but couldn't get access to the bearings. It lasted for about 3 months and then started sqeeking again and so I ended by replacing it with a new part.
