    Another Audi classic moment

2 weeks ago I ordered two aircon pipes from my local Audi dealer who advised me they were still available to order but would need to be called off from the factory hence a 10day wait.

called in this morning to see if they had arrived as hadnt heard anything and i am now told they have been shanged on the 12th May to deleted with no supercession

Excellent news, not least as i had to hack saw off one pipe and the other took me a good 90 mins to remove from the back of the engine bay. So i now have an open a/c system and no pipework to fix it with - fantastic Audi - thanks

I asked that they guy contact Audi to understand what their solution was and to generally moan about the 20-30 items i have tried to order in recent weeks which appear to pop up deleted no supercession. Its impossible to maintain these cars without their help and they are doing as much as they can to make it as difficult as possible.

thoroughly p**sed off and staring at a swealtering jaunt round europe with no aircon now - marvellous :corey:

I have a feeling all this NLA stuff is going to get lots worse before it gets any better. It is starting to hurt now. The parts hoarders are going to have a field day with supply & demand in their favour - whilst Audi generates zero profit for these parts and simultaneously manages to frustrate and annoy so many of its most ardent fans of the brand who lavish silly amounts of money and time into their old cars. This attitude is so wrong and short-sighted in my opinion. Yes they want to sell as many new cars as possible, but why can they also not help those of us who want to keep the older cars on the road - especially when so many of them are now 2nd cars anyway. I can honestly say that if I was ever in the position to buy a new car - I would not be automatically going to the Audi showroom, because this situation really annoys - especially when it has been proven to be solved by other classic marques in Germany, Italy, UK and beyond. Why does Audi want to be seen as the one premium marque in Germany who is not interested in customers with 10yr old cars ?

The hose from compressor to drier has been obsolete since 01/12/2009 and the hose from drier to bulkhead has been obsolete since 01/08/2008. Obviously your local dealer didn't bother checking before ordering. Granted it doesn't get your aircon fixed but if you KOTF (Kick of to F***) with the dealership you might get some kind of goodwill out of them.

No praise needed. I have experienced it from the other side when one of my guys did exactly the same thing. The customer was not happy when they were eventually told the part was obsolete and as always problem customers end up on my plate to deal with. Keeping goodwill can be an expensive game especially where trade customers are concerned.

It's pretty much a given that the parts manager at your local dealer will be stressed out by the service and sales departments and having unreasonable targets. He will want an easy life as most of them are old school parts guys that can't cope with modern practices (targets, presentations, spreadsheets and all the other crap we have to deal with nowadays). If you turn up and KOTF he will want rid of you quickly so will most likely give you something or more discount etc to shut you up.

Why not email that bloke at Audi who was in charge of sorting the Audi Tradition web site... & make him aware that this situation is in fact not getting better as he hoped for, but it's getting worse...

Really does Pee me off when other Marquee's manage to look after their customers with heritage cars... :corey:
