hope you have more luck with an ABY than I did trying to source those pipes for the 3B, was looking for months before a couple of guys from here saved me
I paid £27 for the drier from GSF the other week...
so it seems the drier is cheap. But i thought that these pipes can be redone by replacing the hoses on the ends of the metal parts. It should be cheaper than getting them from the stealers
From what I know - the drier should always be replaced in such a situation - it is filled with dessicant to remove moisture from the refridgerant. If you have had a broken hose then the dessicant will be saturated with moisture from the air - as well as you losing all the gas.
For that price from ECP or GSF - go for it - but the hose will be expensive I am sure.
i will check with the local garage and see what the whole deal will cost. I have been quoted 150GBP to have that hose mended and regas, but i think most of my hoses are on the verge of destruction so dismantling the car 2=3 times to change one hose at a time is not a good option. It will either be, do it now all at once, or leave it until i get back home(ie 2-3 years), as living in the UK is not excactly the hottest country in europe anyway.esp in the north east
i bet the car would have to stay in the garage for 2-3 days to get all hoses stripped, redone and refit.
Please can someone tell us the part numbers so I can get new hoses on mine, I have a leak apparently, the lads did a vacum test from the high port, and smokey stuff came out the Air Con machine apparently telling us I had a leak!
The Technician did not understand why there would be a port in the footwell (Under Carpet?) and he did not seem to have a correct fitting on the AC Compressor, so he ust used the High port under the radiator Cover on the nearside front of the car.
I have no idea why Audi thought it wise to put the LP port where they did... Tis a really awkward place alright. You have three choices -
1 - work with some wacky / special hose that can access the LP port in the cabin
2 - make up a hose adapter for the LP port on the compressor (PITA as the undertray has to come off)
3 - use the HP port instead - but NEVER recharge from a low pressure device with the engine running
