    Bad news....

I put new thermostat and radiator thermal contact from audi and booth problems still continue...the fan don't start (only with A/C, and it can't cool the engine as usually ....the cooling don't circulate) and the thermostat don't open...????...

The thermostat, I think, it's good fitted....I put one a friend of mine, on a s2, and it goes perfect...

Tomorrow I will remove the thermostat an I will test only the radiator thermal contact, becouse now it's imposible due to the cooling don't flow around the cooling system....why?? I don't know yet

Do you get warm air from the heating when set to maximum?

Yes, the air is warm...but the radiator on the down are cool, very cooler than the top...without thermostat the fan in 2nd speed, down the temp quikly to 90º, even more. And the different temp. in the radiator, between top and down, was more rational

I remove the thermostat...the cooling flow around the system but the fan don't start automaticaly...electric system it's good becouse I bridge the connector of the radiator thermal contact and the fan run in 1st and 2nd speed...

I changed 2 fuses, number 20 and 5, both was melted but not broken...I tested the relays 3, 6 and 11, and there was good

I boiled old thermostat and next one, both open...now I have brand new one and radiator thermal contact from audi

any idea about why the thermostat doesn't open an the fan doesn't run automaticaly

                  Thanks

Might be a good idea to change the rad over and see if that makes any difference.
                    Nothing is making sense here!

Try putting your hand on top hose and bottom hose when engine is very hot. Be careful. Sometimes the radiator can feel cool but the hot water goes in top and out bottom directly without flowing through all the radiator core. This bypasses the switch for the fan too. If this is the fault then radiator will not be very warm but bottom and top hose will burn. Then you need a new radiator as the internal dividers have broken down.

But without thermostat and the fan on 2nd speed the engine temp goes down from 100 to 90 in 3 minutes... if I still continue 1 minute aprox. the temp goes down one poin more, I don´t test with more time...I´m going to change the radiator but I think that the car continue overheating...but I hope that both problems dissapear

I put, when the thermostat is fitted the top hose is burning and the botton hose is cool...without thermostat the temp betwen top and botton are more rational and is hot on top and not very hot on botton, becouse the fan cool the water.

when I remove the radiator thermal contact, the water flows around the hole...

                          very bad news again.....

I changed the main radiador a week ago and yesterday I remove the water pump, two good jobs, and the water pump was good, the radiator was dirty, but the problems still continue, the fan doesn't start automaticaly and the fuses number 5 and 20 sometimes appear melted, not cut....

I connected the three terminals sensor like I saw on the info of sjm autotechnick and with the electrical wiring schematics from s2central...I think it's right connected

                          where is the problem????????

Is it possible your circulation problems are being caused by the excessive amount of oxide building up in the system and collecting/restricting the head gasket flow? I have a 10v gasket that, after 150k was almost totally blocked, due to an excessive build up of these oxides.

there is no swap between the circuits ?

I don't know Chezz...my system was dirty but it isn't too much

Next monday arrives my brand new radiator, becouse the radiator that I fitted It was from scrap and I bought it one year ago with other items

I suspect that the cooling flows arround the aux. radiator and by the expansion bottle

Hi nemilosu, I don't try to block the after run circuit but I will test it.

There aren't any swap, I think...becouse I bypassed, with a fuse and a wire, the thermo switch connector and the fan ran in 1st and 2nd speed without problems
