  • Inside fan only working on speed 4

The interior fan has decided to only work on speed 4. This occured on the way back from Dougs house this week. I reckon its the resistor pack that has expired. Does anyone know where it is, to save me some time?

Not sure about 3b but on aby you can get to it by taking glove box out. Its mounted on the side of the plastic heater box thing, to the right if looking thru glove box.

Certainly is,,,,just helped a mate change one on his 3B,,,,, and the good news is :mischeif: ,,,,,, that most of the other model coupes and 80/90's use the same resistor pack,,,,,so you should be able to get one easy enough from a scrappy.

                  A bit OT:

I took my fan out today and cleaned and lubricated it. It kept a bit of squeaking noise last winter when the weather was cold enough (-25C or so)

Just to tell you guys, in automatic aircon cars the fan is a complete PIA to take out as it's positioned horizonally vs vertical style in the non A/C cars. There is too little room to take it out. I had to loosen the dash and pull it quite a bit to make some room.

Btw the aicon style fan costs at the local dealer a pitiful 514 euros as the non A/C one 81€. Fair!

The fan itself is OK luckily, dont fancy taking that out at the moment. Will order a new resistor pack and that should sort it out.

                      Tom,

this is one of those muvver jobs, simple to do and a cow to get to here's the little SOB, arrowed:

                      £15.81+vat for the part.

Its like the fan motor, I have needed to change it for the last year, but it has always looked like a dash out job which can go take a long walk.....

Anyhow, if you undo all the left side dash bolts remove the left air vent and get your g/f or wife to pull on it as hard as they can (the dash!, the dash...) then you can just and I mean just pull the whole motor out of the case without breaking the dash!

That looks like a ****e job. Post back up here how to do it!

                        Your joking :'(

That looks a right mare to get at. It must be possible without removing the fan assembly??
