    r12 re gas

where can i get a r 12 re gas for my 94 s4, or any suggestions, apart from a complete change to 134, unusually the ac is ok but a re vamp would help.

can either convert to 134a which is not the huge ball-ache some people tout or you can use a r12 drop-in gas like rs24 whic has worked well in the past for me. As my compressor has given up (again) I am now looking at just a swap to 134a which is a change of ports and other bits.

      go for new gas.
all you have to change are all o-rings and oil in compresor to new one. my friend has done this about 5 years ago and a/c still works fine . It also works on my cabrio for about some months now

but you don't even have to change the orings.

Have all the old gas and oil vacummed out, replace the receiver drier and refill with R134a and PAG or POE oil.

I've had two different old R12 systems successfully resurrected using new oil/gas.

No change of seals either, just a 'retro-fit' kit that consists of new connectors for the modern charging apparatus.

This is what you want, look at this item number on ebay.com 180524773289. Unfortunately it's in the US but it shows you what the price could/should be, i.e. around £8.

If you Google "R12 conversion kit" you'll come up with items like this

                    http://www.autoairconparts.co.uk/R12...rsion-Kit.html

                    for £30 in the UK.

The two items in these kits that you need are the adaptors for the connection ports - the red and blue things in the pictures, and some new PAG or POE oil with additives in.

If you can find it, this is the kit you want:

Interdynamics #CSR-7, £8 in the US

                        R12

I am currently running an old R12 system, recently my compressor went bang. Am I right in thinking I could get my system working again on R134A by renewing my compressor, changing the oil in the compressor then renewing the top up valves to accept the new refrigerant.
