Air Con revamped....but 1 problem still remains

Last year I did a complete overhaul on my Air Con system, new condenser, compressor and Air Con Pipe. This was successfully producing ice cold air into the cabin when done.

However when I took the RS2 to the garage for some work yesterday it was apparent the gas had completely 'disappeared', I had noticed the Air Con hadn't been functioning properly for a while.

So they ran the usual check; regassing using the dye and UV detector thingamyjig. The Air con runs ice cold again but.....it turns out that there is nowhere in the engine bay showing any leaks at all (from the dye test). The leak is obviously very slow but it does beg the question where else the gas could be leaking?

Someone mentioned to me there is another component behind the dash. Does anyone know what this is and furthermore has anyone ever had a problem with this failing?

    Cheers

There are two components behind the dash, the evaporator and the low pressure switch. The one leak I had in my system was from the low pressure switch. It's an unscrew, replace and screw back job except that it's really hard to get to.

The other common place for a leak is in the aluminium pipe that runs from in front of the brake master cylinder down inside the off-side wing to the receiver drier.

Thanks John, I'll get these checked out next time the car is in the garage, which based on history won't be too far away
