    B4 a/c Heater Fan Queries

Can the fan be dropped down out of it's housing easily, without taking the dash apart ?

My fan is making a bit of noise on the lower speed settings, and I was wondering if the fan is considered a serviceable item ?

Can one oil / lubricate it to make it freer to rotate and not make a noise ?

Can it be taken apart cleaned and any bushes / bearings replaced ?

Are a/c and non a/c fans different ?

Any comments, information or photos relating to the B4 heater fan would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Remove glovebox. In the back of it you have the fan. You can spray some grease . If you are very handy you can dismandle the motor and clean it . You can also change the bushes with ball bearings so will be more reliable.

Yes AC and non AC are very different. As above, remove the glove box in order to access and remove it.
You can also fit the later B5 A4 and Passat fan into the B4 AC housing - it is really easy and cheap to find and a more powerful motor

Thanks for replies, like the idea of an uprated fan motor in my car, - is it completely plug and play from any B5 ?

So as I'm slow, just to clarify I need to find a B5 a/c fan for my a/c B4 car ?

Just double checking this point as there won't be many B5 cars over here with a/c.

            Thanks.
