  • Change heat matrix

Hi , my heat matrix have a leak, typical cooling fluid smell and steamed up windscreen. It stopped when I put a small bottle of Holts radiator sealer in the system. But thats temporary I guess.
The big question then is: How do you change the heat matrix? Is it a "dashboard out" job? Anybody here done it? Looks like an **** of a job to me
    Cheers,

IIRC it's a dash out job. You need to get to the heat exchanger core. And i think it slides in from the top in the climate control or heater control thingy behind the dash.
    So, yes, dash out!

Dash out job yes. Also you have to split the air box system vertically in place if you have an A/C. Or then unbolt the A/C hoses and that would mean a refill.

Not looking forward to this. Think I will try to use it as long as possible before I do that job. And yes, I have climate control on my car. Thats where I spent the most money on repairs, about 3000 euros in 3 years time, and now it's working nice. Looks like it will need a refill after the heater replacement.

                    hi fellas!!

oh yes, dash out time!i spent the last bank holiday doing mine, and not one screw left over when it all went in!result!

is it me, or was splitting the air box a bloody nightmare??!in the end i opted for the regas air-con, only cost me a tenner from a mate!!bargain!

                    have fun!!

                    lee.

I think I'll put it on hold for as long as the Holts sealer works, chickening out for now

Think I'll have to buy another car to have standing by before I begin on this job

                      Cheers..
