aby and 3b filters

is there a difference between aby and 3b airfilters? The KN filter suggested for my aby has the same number as an RS2 filter and the 3b the same as v6 2.8 and suction 5cylinder. How is this please?

ABY and RS2 air filter are indeed identical parts.

The 3B has a totally different airbox design so it takes a different air filter, but I would not be surprised if it is common with other Audi 80 engines.

Apparently the lower half of the RS2 air box has an even larger inlet than the ABY - this is probably worth something but I have yet to quantify any potential gain with that.
