  • Injector seat removal

I've spent the morning taking my inlet manifold and water manifold off. Frustrating I snapped one Allen bolt to my water manifold.
more frustrating though is the injector seats. How the hell do I get them out. They are brittle as hell and just chewed up with Allen key..
I've considered melting them out with gas lamp..
    Anyone any tips???

On 1.8t manifolds I usually break them in pieces with screwdriver and clean the threads with thread tap.

As above, chip them out with a screwdriver or pick.

If I'm honest they are no longer like plastic and have gone porous. I've tried picking them out but I'll be there for weeks..

They look very clean. Powder coat, bare metal or paint?

Yeah I'm on first name terms with the guy I use. Between bike frames car parts and the old column rads in my house I've become a regular...

Ok not sure I know it wasn't sand that's for sure. I made sure it wouldn't damage the threads or fill anything up with crap.. he assured me it wouldn't. The guy is really into MX bikes so I know he is particular and like minded.

I'm sure you have but, make sure your inlet manifold is proper proper clean. What a disaster it would be to put it all together and on first start suck grit into your engine.

I read about a mk1 golf gti owner who had his rocker cover powder coated and failed to clean the oil breather mesh on the top and yep, inevitably it dropped grit into his engine over time and killed his engine.

I was a bit paranoid about trapped grit and got a long handled bottle brush to get right into my manifold along with a garden hose.
