  • Bosch pump failure on my CQ20v + fuel gauge

It was a nice day yesterday so I thought I'd get the audi running and finish the Porsche brake conversion.

The pump has completely gummed up and wouldn't turn and the fuel gauge show empty and the trip meter tells me that I have less than 30 miles to go.

I thought that it was handy I had one in the shed. it was different but I felt it could be used just to move the car. This was jammed as well.

I have priced a replacement and the following prices were found.

    Euro car parts
    original £77.96 plus vat
    copy £44.77 + vat

    GSF
    didn't supply

    Partco
    £104+vat

Currrently I have the old pump in solvent trying to ungum it.

The car has only done 23k miles and I'm a bit loathed to replace it, It ain't worn out yet..

Any suggestions about solvents gratefully appreciated

The fuse is ok but the fuel gauge doesn't move any thoughts why?

    Ebay strikes again

I gathered from the high level of response that no-one knows about solvent abuse of fuel pumps.

Think that I've sorted the problem head for EBAY
    £28 + £6 postage for a genuine Bosch pump.

    Fits the s2 as well
