Is the fact that the heat shield on my downpipe has a gaping hole in it any cause for concern?

    And another

Mine is more holes than metal. I've not noticed any detrimental effects aside from the occasional rattle.

It's going in the bin soon though when the Marco special gets fitted.

My heat sheild was bad on one of the inlet pipes on my CATS so i removed it, not noticed any difference at all - I guess the CAT may take a little longer to get up to optimum temp but it can only be very minimal differences.

Looks normal to me - it is a PITA to try and remove - we ended up with a jubilee clip round the remains of Lees heatshield at the last meet.

Look out for any adjacent parts, on the ur if any of the heat shields are missing it can lead to parts failing early. The heat shield near the engine mount is the most frequent to be missing.

There are no adjacent parts - other than the road. I'll just leave it and if it starts to rattle I'll strap a jubilee clip round it.
