  • Will I notice a difference with 2.75" exhaust

Still running my 2.25" 7A exhaust and am about to go for a 2.75" system for my homefried 3B (no Cat). Will I notice a differemce (what extra will it release) apart from the noise. In other words is it worth the money.
Getting 2.75" now as intend in aiming for 350bhp with roller bearing turbo next year.

No Cat on present system but it was the one I had fitted to the 7A engine and where it bends the diameter drops to 2" so hope to feel a difference when the 2.75" with mandrel bends gets fitted in a few weeks time.

I'd have thought so, i'd also have thought the 2.25 7a exhaust might be slightly restrictive as standard afaik is 2.5
depends how well its made as some have been that restrictive that it causes more harm than good (darrenm's exhaust springs to mind)

Have taken several in gear times with this exhaust and will compare with new one. Will put results up on here. So long as it shows an improvement it would have been worth it.

            In a word,

            Yes...

You'll not only go a little bit quicker, you'll feel like you're going a heck of a lot quicker...

I've got 2 cars running single box 3" systems and the turbocharged one is still pretty subtle...

            you'll love a 3".... Seriously.... I wouldn't think twice....

Looks as though I'll have to go 3" as Pipewerx go straight from 2.5 to 3" systems. How is the 3" for clearance as not much room now?!

Ian Birch of pipewerx said that 350bhp is the limit after carrying out extensive testing. After that a 3" should be used although just fitting a 3" downpipe can make a big difference if the car is not going to be used for track days once past 300bhp. Will be interested to see results....

just spoken to charlie at prospeerd and given similar conclusion, he knows i trac my car a lot and as i have a target of 350 he recons a 3" is something i will need, although i'm sure some exageration took place since he is selling the exhaust
he does a 3" downpipe he will sell me for £220 to fit my 2.5" or for £550 he can do a full 3" turbo back.
these are just prices for me though as i have had a full exhaust from him already. just asking around if anybody wants my 2.5" atm as i dont have 550

it does seem there are quite a few of us Coupe and avant owners trying to get DP's sorted.....is it worth all getting together..getting a 'shoew of hands' and trying for the group buy type of thing??.....

We've tried before but its not come together yet - and I havent had time to pursue some specialists that haven't shown any interest. Needs someone local to go face to face them and talk numbers before they believe it.
