  • opps! air filter siting mistake

when fitting new air filter and pipe work to my type85 coupe quattro with aby i thought put it somewhere cold, so behind front bumper it went.
ran really well, picking up that fresh air.
Never thought about it on sunday when i went for a drive in the rain!
Took about 12-15 miles to soak the air filter completely before the engine started sucking water in.
Luckily intermittent and got it home very slowly, looking like an extra from a Bond film on a few occasions, I didn t think the water would make that much white smoke.
Luckily did nt bend a rod
oil full of mayo so drained it and fitting a new filter.
any advice on an alternate location for the air filter, i don t want it in the engine bay n sucking hot air, although that would be better than water.
any pics would be helpful too
i did think or removing the headlight on track days and piping it through the hole, even cut an old light back down towards it.

get a spare light with knackered reflectors and trim it up so the air flows thru it to the filter.

what about hiding the filter in the wing and putting ducting to it?
