      You won't need a gasket with V-band clamps as far as I know

        That's the point of v-band no gasket senior.

              Could you you make a gasket by cutting one out of a sheet of exhaust gasket using a v band as a template?

                Can I ask a stupid question....

                Does one weld these v-band flanges onto each end of the pipe that they wish to join together ?

                  Yes.

                  As demonstrated;

                    I use v bands on my car. Real fast for removing exhaust or cat lol. But after a few k miles they blow out mostly when cold. Would be interested in gaskets too.

                        Not true i'm afraid. Some take o-rings, other use steel reinforced ceramic ones.
                        Some V-bands are build to operate only due to the use of gaskets like R.G. RAY clamps.
                        Labyrinth sealed v-clamps seem to leak less, but straight faced flanges do.

                        But for low pressure applications (exhaust) i wouldn't mind a little leakage, for overpressured systems (inlet trajectory stuff) i would.
                        Watch out with W/G connections with the slot facing the top, i've seen some hoods lose paint because of escaping flames/fumes.

                          I would allways dress the faces on a linisher after welding because they do warp after welding.

                          But a gasget sounds like a good idea because the exhaust will not need removing to do this.

                            Watch out for the difference between cold and hot application. For exhaust applications they are more likely made from a stainless steel, and made in a thicker gauge of steel. Thinner ones will crack eventually... BTDT

                              Thanks for the info guys, I've searched and searched but can't seem to find any.

                              @ Andy10v yep probably could've made some but I've been in touch with Javad at 034 and they have sent me a couple free of charge. I've just fitted their full 3" exhaust system... Overall very pleased with it. More details/pictures coming soon if anyone is interested.
