    Hi!,

After some creative searching I came across this.

    http://www.themotorhole.co.uk/features/s2.htm

Even though the pics aren't that informative, it looks like this particular car dosen't run a maf! The text says it runs a DTA management system!
That last bit is interesting. Its another option to examine for those considering aftermarket ecus. I knew they had done a 20V n/a.

Hmmmm, does that mean Simon's S2 isn't running Motronic? Then why all this fuss about larger MAF housings being used in his car????

I really liked the look of those carbon MAF tubes. I just wanted to know if I could safely swap it out for my standard one without issue. Simple question yet seemingly no simple answer. Shame.

PS Simon definately isn't running Motronic, neither are most of the other high powered S2 specials like Grant's S2 engined Golf MK1, I guess because there are not many people capable of tuning them to extreme levels with Motronic. Other systems like MOTEC/DTA are much simpler and less sophisticated which is why so many go this route. I know of one tuner trying to convince and RS4 owner to go MOTEC just because he can't map ME7!! Doh!

[QUOTE=tekkno300]No. Sorry Charlie, wish it was that simple. I'll try and put together a simple conceptual explanation. No, not being patronising at all, just for everyone's benefit is all.

I was just hoping they were going to find a way of making it work.

I guess keeping the size standard would have made it work. I would have had one at twice the price because it looked so cool.

Sorry guys, not my field here, so as many of the others I would really like to know why, if a 15% bigger cross sectional area MAF is fitted (since someone sayed MAF is the only media ECU recognizes for determining fuel mixtures apart from Lambda in closed loop mode) and a 15% bigger flow injectors are fitted (or alternatively fuel pressure in the rail is increased to achieve the desired + 15% flow) the whole lot couldn't work whitout any ECU hassle......

Can I just make a point while your all throwing your knowledge about. He says there will be restrictor tubes built for people who want to keep it standard. Where's the problem? if you want to keep the flow the same, leave the restrictor tube in - Problem solved and a nice bit of bling.
