  • Good damn this tubular manifold

Tried to fit this last night, but what a job, i got all the turbo oil/water lines sorted and everything is bolted up, minus the downpipe which has to be made. Dont fancy running it until thats one incase it torches the car!!!

Only problem i have is where is the MAF going to go, i have about 2.5" clearance behind the headlight and thats it. Plus i have AC and std intake setup

Heres a few pics of it so far anyway.

If you have some ideas of what to do then let me know

          Hmmm.. A tricky one.
Does anyone have any experience of using the MAF after the turbo? Like after the IC.
I think with Tom’s huge IC, air temps wouldn’t be too much of a problem.
          Just an idea.

I know, thats what is annoying me. And there is no way i can fit a MAF there!! May have to look into changing ECU system Which i cant afford at the moment.

Here’s a picture of my homemade intake pipe during development.
I think you had a similar set up, Tom.
I kept the pipe the same size as the inducer bore on the first bend, and then slowly swept it to the MAF bore.
It looks pretty tight on yours now. I found my ellipsoid headlight made the problem worse, as it is deeper than the original headlight.

                        Hi Audiman

Move the MAF on the other side of the IC. I did that and it runs very nice like that. Only problem is that you have to do some small adjustment in the ECU. But I would do that, especially with a bigger turbo like that.

Got any pics of where you placed it?? Also how do you make it not leak boost?? Its only plastic so you cant do the hose clip real tight, surely it will leak?

I think as long as the pipework isn’t wobbling about it should be ok.
Especially with the pipe clips that you are using. They provide a good even spread of the load on the pipe.
You could always strap the pipes together, to make sure they don’t blow off, if you’re using mega boost!
