  • 7A performance exhaust sizes

    Hi Guys,

I`m in the process of getting a performance exhaust made for my audi coupe GT which now has a 7A with a bag of snakes manifold.
Has anyone fiddled with their exhaust with different diameter pipes etc.
The flange on the manifold is 57mm, do I keep it the same size to the back or go 63mm, or go 57mm halfway and 63,, the rest??

    Thanks

i had a three inch system from CAC bolted to the cat back on my old 90q 20v - worked a treat and sounded rather nice indeed . . .

3" is too big for an NA engine IMHO, I would go with the tubular manifold into 2.5", ditch the cat and centre box, and use a single rear box.

Yeah, I also agree. 2.5" would be fine on a stock 7A, it would maybe warrent a 2.75" system if other tunning such as head work has been carried out. NA engines require a bit more thought than turbo cars when it comes to exhaust sytems, adaquate back pressure is essencial for cylinder scavenging.

Thats what I had on the 7A and performed and sounded great on street and track.

3" is too big. I cant remember what size a stock 7A system is, but it was a larger diameter than the 10v exhaust systems.

Stock is 60mm for a 7A -at least that is the size of the clip holding the two halves together

CAC never had a 3" system, I've begged Paul to do one for the Ur-q and he refused... their system was 2.5" for both the B3 and typ 85 cars
                    Hope this helps.
