Wrap downpipe?

I am thinking of heat wrapping my stock downpipe as the stock shielding has rotted off.
Is this good idea or bad?

Whats the correct way to go about this?

I did that to mine for the same reason and om happy with it.

So its not a crazy idea to go wrapping then.

What did you use? And did you seal it afterwards to prevent oil soak?

When i done mine it did smoke slightly for first few miles and after that its stop and its just perfect.i got mine from ebay,it was less then £20 so i was not to sure if it will be good but it does the job.i didn't seal it in any way(my engine is leaks free :-))).

I had mine ceramic coated, had a picture on here somewhere and it came out really nice. Personally don't trust wraps as it is a fire hazard but sure it would be fine in most cases

Yep, keep an eye on it, as if it gets oil soaked from a leak, the wrap can catch fire.
